This is a match safe (or holder) by James E. Blake* Co. of Attleboro, MA.
It is made of a nickel composite to thus comprise a reduced silver content.
The front side illustrates a beautiful woman with long flowing hair holding a glass of wine in one hand
and a cigarette in the other.
The lid snaps nice and tight.
The bottom surface is ridged as a striker.
Wooden matches were carried in the vest or jacket in these safes before match books were invented.
Minor dings in the rear side as shown.
This is a very ornate piece which will display very well and thus be a great addition to a collection.
